About us

Spain’s first private railway company

Since our founding in 2000, Continental Rail has played an active part in the transformation of rail freight transport in Spain. In 2006 we became the first private railway company to obtain the Safety Certificate and, a year later, we ran the first private train on Spain’s General Interest Railway Network. A pioneering track record that reflects our experience, capability and commitment to rail transport.

Today, as part of the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, we connect our rail services with the main ports of the Iberian Peninsula.

What we do

End-to-end rail services

  • Freight transport

    Block trains of containers, bulk cargo and steel products across the peninsula, with our own locomotives and drivers.

  • End-to-end door-to-door solution

    A single point of contact for the whole chain: collection at origin, rail haulage, terminal handling and delivery at destination.

  • Terminal solutions

    Shunting, loading, unloading and transhipment at port and inland terminals, with the rail last mile taken care of.

  • Road transport solutions

    First and last legs by road through Construrail, with a presence in the ports of Valencia, Barcelona, Bilbao and Algeciras.

Get your train driver licence

Train with an active railway undertaking: instructors in real operations, our own rolling stock and a direct route into the profession.

  • 1.150 h 650 theory and 500 practical
  • 10.000 € Total course fee
  • 30 Places per intake
  • LIC. Train driver licence approved by the Spanish Railway Safety Agency
  • DIP. Certificates for rolling stock and infrastructure
  • PRÁC. Practical training on the company’s real commercial services
  • COURSES Ongoing training for working rail staff

Entry requirements

  • Upper secondary education, vocational technician or equivalent qualification
  • Physical and psychological fitness certificate from an approved centre
  • Sufficient command of Spanish
  • Minimum age of 20
